What is the best way to give my AI agent information about a business: FAQs or crawling the website?
AI models already know a great deal about everything in general, such as sales frameworks or the difference between linoleum and granite. What they do not know is anything specific about your business or your client's business: phone number, hours, address, year founded, owner and so on. You have to give it that.
We recommend FAQs. A list of FAQs is easy to read and edit right in your browser, and you know exactly where any answer came from. If the AI gives a wrong answer, you can find it and fix it immediately.
There is also a knowledge base where you can add an entire website. It crawls the site, and that works too. But large websites and blogs are mostly marketing or SEO content that does not help the agent, because it already knows the generic material. If an answer from a crawled site is wrong, it is hard to trace, and fixing it may mean getting the client's website updated.
If you have to choose between loading a website and writing FAQs, use FAQs.
